After more than four years of supplying bars, restaurants and hotels in South Florida with its specially-made craft beer, Biscayne Bay Brewing Co. is expanding beyond the tri-county region.
The microbrewery, based in Doral at 8000 NW 25th St., announced Monday that six-packs of its most popular beers will soon be available for sale at Publix locations from Key West to Indian River County. The distribution growth was made possible due to a new bottling process that uses special craft brewery equipment made by a Nebraska-based company.
“This is a big milestone for us, but we continue to push forward and innovate the process, as well as seek opportunities to expand our operation,” said Biscayne Brewing Co. president Jose Mallea.
Founded in 2012, Biscayne Bay Brewing Co. has been distributing its beer to hundreds of locations in South Florida since 2014, in addition to serving customers directly at its taproom, which opened in 2016.
The microbrewery is part of an expanding regional industry, which is expected to grow at a clip nearly double the national average in the next five years, according to the Miami-Dade Beacon Council. The regional market is projected to expand by 32.9 percent within that period, while the national industry is projected to grow at an average rate of 17 percent.
South Florida is home to a total of 36 microbreweries.
