Downtown Doral is getting plenty of attention in the commercial real estate world. But how does this project fit into the new urban core Downtown Doral is creating within the city?
GlobeSt.com caught up with Ana Codina-Barlick, CEO of Downtown Doral to get her take on this question.
Downtown Doral bills itself as a true modern metropolis in the spirit of great American towns past, where business and pleasure mix.
“Downtown Doral creates a live, work, learn, play community and is the unifying urban center for the City of Doral,” Codina-Barlick tells GlobeSt.com. “With four residential properties ranging in style and price; five class A office buildings that create a campus feel; a dual-language charter elementary school; and the ability to walk out of your front door to a variety of dining and shopping—Downtown Doral brings all of the amenities of a major city to the suburbs and creates a true heart for the city.”
Downtown Doral is the manifestation of a blueprint 30 years in the making, when South Florida developer Armando Codina first imagined plans that would bring life to the community. Noteworthy is the fact that Downtown Doral is also the home of the City of Doral’s state-of-the-art Government Center. It’s also one of a very few communities in Miami-Dade county that has been designated as LEED neighborhood thanks to its abundance of public green spaces.
“The mixed-use development’s three-acre Downtown Doral park offers a center for community gathering, with an open-air pavilion and amphitheater, for local events like movie nights and performances, and a monumental sculpture by world renowned artist Michele Oka Doner,” says Codina-Barlick. “Adding to the community’s greener elements, The Cordoba downtown luxury apartments are constructed under strict LEED ‘green’ building standards and feature a high-energy HVAC system, energy efficient light fixtures, low-flow water saving bathroom fixtures and Energy Star Whirlpool appliances.”
