California-based Custom Space has leased its first South Florida location with an 85,000-square-foot industrial space at Doral Logistics Center.
The firm is similar to temporary-office provider Regus, but for warehouses. It provides month-to-month leases for warehouse and office space ranging from 300 to 20,000 square feet while providing support services, such as receiving inventory and answering phones for tenants.
State Street Realty’s Frank Trelles represented Custom Space in the deal while Transwestern’s Thomas Kresse represented the landlord of the building at 2900 N.W. 112th Ave.
“Custom Space will fill an important gap in the market for small businesses that need short-term warehouse leases, but a typical self-storage bay of about 200 square feet is too small for them. There are many local businesses, especially those importing and exporting products, that could use a larger warehouse, but aren’t ready to commit to a multi-year lease.” Trellis said.
Custom Space currently has facilities in Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco and Seattle.
“The company is looking to hire 10 people to staff the Doral location and hope to find space in Fort Lauderdale next,” Trellis said.
