The City of Doral just hosted its 2025 State of the City Address at Trump National Doral, where Mayor Christi Fraga celebrated a year of remarkable achievements and shared a unified vision for the city’s future.
Her address highlighted major progress in public safety, world-class parks and recreation, smarter mobility, and strong, transparent financial management.
Mayor Fraga celebrated the completion of Doral Central Park, now one of the largest in Miami-Dade County, featuring a cutting-edge Community & Fitness Center and a premier Aquatic Facility. The new center has already launched programs such as learn-to-swim, lap swimming, water fitness, and a competitive swim team. The Mayor also announced a new partnership making FIU’s Swim & Dive Team’s home pool the Doral Aquatic Center and outlined expanded programming for seniors and residents with special needs.
She also highlighted a standout year of community events — including the return of July 4th at Doral Central Park — and the success of the inaugural Mayor & Chief’s Charity Golf Tournament and Gala, which raised more than $300,000 for the Parks and Police 4 Kids initiative.
On public safety, Mayor Fraga emphasized the City’s largest-ever investment in keeping residents safe, with 43% of the municipal budget dedicated to police and emergency services. She detailed the addition of new officers and Police Service Aides, the creation of specialized units (Fraud, Aggressive Driving, and Park Response), department reaccreditation, and technology enhancements. The Mayor recognized the life-saving work of officers, including Officer Jhojan Gallo, and announced plans for a modern, centrally located Police Headquarters, along with ongoing training and preparedness for major regional events.
Addressing infrastructure and mobility, Mayor Fraga outlined more than $5.5 million invested this year in roadway and stormwater improvements to reduce flooding and enhance drainage. She also noted the expansion of Doral Trolley and Freebee services, new micromobility safety legislation, upgraded traffic signals and lighting, and continued beautification efforts. The City has also broken ground on a citywide trolley shelter project to improve comfort, safety, and accessibility, while continuing to advocate for timely improvements along NW 25th Street.
Mayor Fraga reaffirmed Doral’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, highlighting consecutive AAA bond ratings from S&P and Fitch, and top financial honors from the Government Finance Officers Association. She presented a balanced FY 2026 budget with strong reserves and compliance with all state transparency standards. The City continues to pursue innovative revenue strategies — including sponsorships, public-private partnerships, and strategic investments — that create sustainable income streams for key priorities like public safety, parks, and infrastructure without increasing the burden on taxpayers.
“We’ve strengthened public safety, delivered the transformative Doral Central Park, and invested in smarter mobility and flooding solutions — all with discipline and transparency,” said Mayor Christi Fraga. “When we work together, we achieve more. Our mission is to keep Doral safe, connected, and full of opportunity for our families today and for generations to come.”
The Mayor also spotlighted new innovation and service initiatives, including Launch45, a pilot program designed to streamline qualified business openings within 45 days; Fire plans review now conducted within the City’s Building Department; a volunteer-developed Virtual Mayor tool that enhances service access at no cost to residents; and seed funding for a startup incubator to empower local entrepreneurs.
